Fleecing or fleeing the flea market.
We all love a good bargain when we see one. But, how many of
us do get away with a good bargain? How many of us end up paying through the
nose for a worthless piece of junk just because we have fallen in love with it?
What are the points to look out for to drive a good bargain
home?
While browsing, it doesn’t hurt to enquire who is the owner
of the store. Whenever possible, directly with the owner who has the say in the
selling price. A salesperson may not be open to negotiation since it means a
loss in earning and s/he may not have the authority to reduce the marked price.
Show off your knowledge of the product. The seller will not
play havoc with the prices with you if you have done your homework.
Be aware that many people in the trade use soft sell methods
like casual cajoling, persuasion or personal testimonies about the fantastic
properties of the product.
Never part with more cash than you are ready to pay for a
product. Do not let sentiments get in your way. Walk away before you regret it.
You need to take care of your pocketbook, balance your checks and live on in
spite of the temptation of owning that property. Your corporal being needs care
above board of the immaterial shopping item.
Do you shop wisely or do you trust blindly in the second
hand bargain store?
