Effective Communication

When you talk, do people really listen? Do you get the end results the way you want them?

How well people understand you depend on how well you communicate your desires to them.

The first step to eloquence is to be aware of yourself. Carry yourself well when talking. Bring your message across in all the ways verbal speech can accomplish. Talk as though it were your last chance to discuss the issue. Rightly, you may never come this way again as time and opportunity waits for no one.

Be clear in what you want from the other party. Specify your details and leave nothing to chance. It helps when you provide a clearer picture of what is to be expected.

Instead of being verbose and bore your listener to death, ask for him to repeat what he understands is being requested.

How do we get people to listen and give us what we want? We can inspire, motivate or fire up the engines when we can connect to people. Get their empathy and with that as the driving force, one can get the best mileage out of them. People should work with you, and not against you.

With effective communication skills, you might never need to chase another person for some task undone satisfactorily. In converse, if you are the assigned task doer, you might never get chased for a missing piece of work because of your communication breakdown.

Do you talk the effective talk way?
