17) Write your brief but detailed CV very carefully. Highlight your customer service experiences. List all your courses and foreign language fluency skills.
18) Include your full length studio photograph.
19) Even if there are no recruitment ads, contact the airline and ask the necessary details about applying for that flight attendant job.
20) If you get an appointment letter for an interview, prepare yourself. Ensure that you are groomed from head to toe. Select a smart suit or formal clothes to wear.
21) The interview and assessment starts from the second you walk through the door. Be on your guard and on your best manners. Attractive qualities are friendliness, courtesy, being positive and smiling frequently.
22) Different companies have specific requirements so these guidelines may have to bend to cater for the general audience. Usually, there is a group selection. A group of applicants are requested to sit down and discuss a topic. It is most helpful to keep up to date with current affairs and the airline’s policies. You can read up on the company’s website and familiarize yourself with the company President and airline operations etc. It is a group interaction and it is best to keep it friendly even if you beg to differ in opinion.
23) You may be asked back for a personal interview. The usual questions asked are on what you know about the expectations of the airline service industry, your specific experiences in the customer care job, what is the most challenging demand and how you solved and handled the customer. You need to prepare for this as you will be asked specific details and you must have ready facts on hand or else you can’t answer their questions.
24) You might be asked on why you want to work in the airlines. A definite no-no is to say you need the money and the perks. That is superficial answer and a sure exit. Think about the positive reasons.
(a) You love meet interesting and different nationalities.
(b) You love to travel and serve people.
(c) You love to work in a team to make the flying experience pleasurable.
(d) You are service orientated and desire to put your customer care skills to good use.
25) Put your best foot forward but enjoy your interview. At the end of the day, it is your skills at presentation that would clinch the job for you. Take this interview as an experience to file in your brain cells and learn from it. Even if you get an instantaneous negative response to your application, put on a brave front and ask your interviewer the reasons why you were rejected. You will learn from your mistakes and benefit by not repeating them in the future.
26) Never, ever, loose your cool and burst into tears. If you were a “maybe” that they wanted to file for future reference, you will certainly become a definite reject.
27) Above all, thank your interviewers for their time. Courtesy costs nothing but means everything.
